Coursera Viewer: Bug fix published

I have published the new version of Coursera Viewer to Windows Store for certification, hopefully it will be certified and released soon.

If you are using the app, please goes to the Windows Store app and look for updates. The update will be available as soon as the update is certified.

Thanks for being patient waiting for the fix to release!

As usual, happy learning!

Coursera Viewer Interruption

Coursera changed their website recently - so the crawler code does not work anymore. The fact that Coursera change at my back is not something I can control. I am working on cranking out a patch as soon as I can.

Sorry for the interruption - and please be patient, the app will work again on the next update.

Rubik Cube reach 600 downloads

My First Windows Store App, Rubik Cube, is reaching 600 downloads today!

As a first app on Windows Store, I don't expect it to be great.
It is okay on a device with high computational power (since it relies on software 3D rendering), but it is slow on Surface RT.

Anyway, this is a good milestone to celebrate when the number of downloads reach a certain level :)

Bug fixes released

There were a couple pieces of comments I have collected through the various channels.

Install/uninstall just to get password right?
A user told me he/she has to install/uninstall many times to get the password right, you don't have to, if you had a wrong password you will just terminate the app and start it again, you will have another chance to type in the password.

With the new release, I have put a separate button in the setting charm, with that, you can change the password even after launching the app. The error message also reminds you the failure to download might be password issue.

Refreshing home page lost all videos?
This is true, if you refresh the home page on the last version of the app, it will delete all the old videos (in fact the files stay there, but they're no longer accessible through the app).

The release fixed the issue, refreshing the home page will keep existing videos intact, so you can refresh the page to get access to the latest enrolled courses.

The the release is certified by the Windows Store and will be delivered as soon as they can. In the meanwhile, if you still have the problem, please wait and the release will be there soon.

The rating page is somewhere I cannot moderate, so I appreciate if any feedback is done through this blog instead of going to the rating page, there is no way for me to tell other user the problems are fixed if they access the app through the Windows Store app. Thanks a lot for your cooperation.

Coursera Viewer for Windows 8 Released

I have been using my Surface device to watch Coursera videos on my shuttle all the time. Since the Wifi on shuttle is very slow, I'd usually download them beforehand and watch on the way. Managing to track each courses, which one is watched or not, and when new video releases, is tedious. To that end, I have written a simple app to help myself. I decided to sell this app online on Windows Store so that other people can also benefit from it too. I name it Coursera Viewer. I hope you will buy it and find it useful.

If you have any feedback with this app, please post them on this blog, I'll monitor the blog and collect the feedback as it goes!
